Chittorgarh Sahitya Sanskriti Sansthan 'Sambhavana' has announced 'Freedom Fighter Ramchandra Nandwana Smriti Samman' for the year 2024. This prestigious award will be given to famous writer Pratap Gopendra of Prayagraj for his famous work 'Chandrashekhar Azad: Myth vs Reality'. Institute President Laxman Vyas said that Gopendra has done an in-depth study of the unknown aspects of the life of Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad in this book, which will give the younger generation a new perspective to understand the life and contribution of this great freedom fighter and revolutionary.

Important collection of new facts in the work

Senior Hindi litterateur Prof. Kashinath Singh, writer Dr. Durgaprasad Aggarwal, and historian Prof. Rachna Mehta, who were part of the selection committee of the award, unanimously found this work worthy of the award. Prof. Kashinath Singh said that Pratap Gopendra is one of those young writers who make their works useful to the public by creating harmony between history and literature. He has made an important collection of new facts in his book, which throws new light on the life of a revolutionary like Chandrashekhar Azad.

Dr. Durgaprasad Agarwal said that it will always be necessary to know the heroes of the Indian freedom struggle from a deeper perspective, because it was their dedication and sacrifice that gave us independence. Gopendra should be appreciated for writing a new biography of such a national hero. Prof. Rachna Mehta said that this work will be an important example for those who complain about the lack of research in historical works written in Hindi. This book is a wonderful confluence of deep research and excellent language.

Felicitation ceremony and award

Lakshman Vyas said that under the 'Freedom Fighter Ramchandra Nandwana Smriti Samman', the writer is presented with eleven thousand rupees, a shawl and a citation. Gopendra will be given this honor in a special ceremony organized in Chittorgarh in the coming month of December along with the honored writers of past years.

Dr. Kanak Jain, the coordinator of this award established by Sambhavna, told that this year recommendations for works of national importance were sought, in which a total of twenty-two works were received from all over the country. On the basis of evaluation of these works, the selection committee declared 'Chandrashekhar Azad: Myth vs Reality' as the best work. Dr. Jain told that Gopendra, born in 1982 in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, has written many important books while serving in the Indian Police Service, prominent among which are 'Azamgarh in the Mirror of History' and '1857 Ke Amar Nayak Raja Jailal Singh'.
